The wings of medium-sized hummingbirds beat about 20–25 beats per second, flight speed can average 25-30 mph, diving speed up to 60 mph. A hummingbird can rotate each of its wings in a circle, allowing them to be the only bird which can fly forwards, backwards, up, down, sideways or just hover. 30% of a hummingbird's weight consists of flight muscles.
